The doctor of the Olympic team, Dr. Abdullah Baron, stressed that injuries cannot occur in athletes without there being a direct or indirect cause that leads to injury, and that this is not related to a specific age, but all ages are vulnerable to injury. He pointed out that the most prominent and most likely causes of injuries is the weakness of the recovery process after matches, especially when the matches are compressed and consecutive or because of lack of sleep or inappropriate nutrition taken by athletes compared to the efforts made, in addition to injuries that occur due to friction with players and collision between them and other reasons.

It is noteworthy that the Asian Federation of Sports Medicine honored Dr. Abdullah Baron with the silver medal for sports medicine on the sidelines of the Sports Medicine Conference in Qatar 2023, in appreciation of his sports medical status and his active technical roles in his field of work.

Dr. Baron told Emirates Today: "Good preparation at the beginning of the season and before the start of the actual competitions is one of the most important elements that reduce the impact of exposure to injury, in addition to adequate sleep at night, not staying up late, good nutrition and good recovery after matches, the most important of which is drinking enough water and fluids, in addition to adhering to the instructions of fitness trainers when using weight exercises in the gym and not using excess exercises so that there is no stress and also avoiding strong contact with competitors."

He continued: «The UAE is one of the developed countries in sports medicine because of its distinctive capabilities in this aspect, and the clubs include in their ranks qualified sports doctors, so many injuries are treated distinctively, and the number of injuries is limited».

He pointed out that there are mistakes made during sports, including that players do not appreciate the importance of rest after matches, which is the most prominent reason that causes injury.

Dr. Baron gave a number of tips for athletes, stressing that they are part of guidelines that athletes should know.
