Djokovic regains the top spot in the "tennis world" ranking without playing

Serbian Novak Djokovic, absent from the Indian Wells and Miami Americas Masters, regained first place in the tennis world rankings without playing, taking advantage of the loss of Spaniard Carlos Alcaras in the Miami semi-finals.
After being crowned at Indian Wells, 19-year-old Alcaras regained world number one from Djoko. But the Spaniard lost his title in Miami, losing in a thrilling semi-final match to Italy's Yannick Sinner who came back and lost the final to Russia's Daniil Medvedev.
This is the 380th week of Djokovic's busy career at the top of the world tennis rankings, a record.
Noli is 35 points ahead of Alcaras, who lost 380 points, while Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas retained third place, but a thousand points behind Alcaras.
With his coronation in Miami, Medvedev climbed the standings and became fourth at the expense of Norwegian Kasper Ruud.
The Russian is the star of the start of the season, having been crowned in Rotterdam, Doha, Dubai and Miami. At the age of twenty-seven, he won his fifth Masters 640 title and nineteenth in his entire career.
Despite losing the final, Sinner climbed the standings to enter the top ten club and become ninth.
With his continued absence from the courts due to injury, Spanish legend Rafael Nadal slipped and became in fourteenth place.
