Al Arifi: Abu Dhabi confirms its uniqueness and ability to host and organize international sporting events

Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) have announced that the fifth edition of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon will be held on Saturday, December 16.

The date of the event and the plans for organizing and participating were approved in coordination with all concerned authorities, as the marathon will be held with the highest professional standards, especially after the success of the fourth edition of the marathon with the participation of more than 20,<> runners.

"In line with the declaration of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, 2023 (Year of Sustainability) in the UAE, the fifth edition of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon is set to focus more on the theme of sustainability, through several initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact and waste," a press release said.

The marathon also reflects the ongoing commitment to promoting the health and well-being of community members and supporting the country's efforts and endeavors in promoting healthy lifestyles and achieving a distinctive quality of life index.

Suhail Al Arifi, Executive Director of Events at Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said: "Once again.. Abu Dhabi demonstrates its uniqueness and ability to host and organize world-class sporting events to the highest standards, while reinforcing its position locally and globally as a meeting place for everyone to run, and a way to change lifestyle, and we look forward to welcoming more runners to Abu Dhabi for the fifth edition of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon."

Abu Dhabi Sports Council and ADNOC have announced a series of promotional community marathon races, which once again provide participation and training opportunities throughout the year and help runners better prepare for the main race. The series kicks off with an indoor community short-distance race in Abu Dhabi on 2 September, while Al Ain will host the second race on 7 October, with the final race taking place on 4 November at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi as a half marathon.
