Mohammed bin Rashid attends Dubai Breeze Up auction at Meydan

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday witnessed the second edition of the Dubai Breeze Up auction, which was held in cooperation with Gopher International House, at the Meydan International Racecourse in Dubai, and achieved great success for two-year horses under training in the Middle East, with total sales of AED 26 million and 310 thousand.

The auction featured 73 world-class, two-year-old horses from Ireland, the United Kingdom and America, belonging to the world's leading stallions, and linked by lineage to horses that have proven their superiority on the local and international scenes.

The auction saw many horses sold for large sums, most notably a wonderful filly of the American stallion "Gunrunner" and the Brazilian mare "Baby Go Far" for 2.2 million dirhams, and a filly of the American stallion "Justify" and the Irish mare "Say" was sold for 2.1 million dirhams, and a filly of the American stallion "Constitchen" and the American mare "Caribbean Baby" was sold for 1.6 million dirhams.

Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Racing Club, said: "The Dubai Breeze Up auction has provided a valuable opportunity for those looking for promising horses from various farms and auctions around the world, in the light of expert studies of their characteristics and breed results, taking into account their diversity and gradation in a way that suits different desires, so as to provide prospective buyers, especially from the region, with varieties that spare them the trouble of traveling, searching and shipping, at competitive prices, and close to vital racing centers."

He added: "We are pleased to confirm that many of the horses on display belong to leading stallions in the world, and are associated with horses that have proven their superiority in this region, a group of emerging horses with a consistent strength and excellent health, and have passed basic training, are ready to give to prospective investors, and we enjoyed watching them while running on the Meydan racecourse.

He continued: "Thanks to the leadership and vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, we aim to be the best in what we do, and this requires us to provide the necessary capabilities for the advancement of the local industry, and to make Dubai a prominent destination for horse owners, stressing our continued endeavors to serve them in this sport, which represents our passion and identity."
