This is called walking in the footsteps of one's father. Mathis Galthié, son of the coach of the XV de France, signed his first professional contract at Colomiers, where Fabien Galthié played from 1986 to 2001. Also a scrum-half, the 21-year-old has committed until 2025 with the club from the Toulouse suburbs, currently 5th in Pro D2 and who can consider climbing to the Top 14.

Mathis Galthié played 11 of the first 24 league games, including four as a starter, and scored two tries.

A nice gift for the father

"I am very happy to sign my first professional contract with Colomiers, a club that opened the doors of the Pro D2 to me," he said in a statement. "I can't wait to get back on the pitch and help the team make the Michel-Bendichou stadium vibrate."

The signing of his first pro contract was made official on the birthday of his father, who celebrated his 54th birthday after leading Les Bleus to second place in the Six Nations Tournament.
