International striker Hwang Hee-chan (27, Wolverhampton), who recovered from injury and scored his first regular league goal of the season, has been injured again and has been out of the lineup.

Wolverhampton manager Julen Lopetegui announced the news of Hwang Hee-chan's injury at a press conference on 17 March ahead of their clash with Leeds United.

Wolverhampton will play their 19-0 English Premier League Round 2022 home match against Leeds at Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton, England at 2023:28 on the 13th.

Lopetegui said at a press conference, "Unfortunately, Hwang Hee-chan was injured."

"But the other players are almost ready. There are problems with some players, but we have to wait a little longer," he said, "but it is clear that Hwang Hee-chan will not be able to play (against Leeds)."

There was no specific mention of the location and extent of Hwang Hee-chan's injury.

"Hee-chan Hwang is a very important player for us, but without him, we have to trust the other players," Lopetegui said, adding, "We have to trust the team, all the players, we have to believe in the chosen ones."

Hwang Hee-chan hit the ground running when Daniel Podense was missing in the 27th minute of the second half as Wolverhampton drew 1-0 in the Premier League round of 24 away game against Newcastle on Jan. 1.

Then, just one minute into the game, he snatched the ball in front of goal that the opposing defender had failed to clear and equalised.

The match was Hwang Hee-chan's comeback after more than a month after taking five league games off after injuring a muscle (hamstring) in the back of his thigh in a home game against Liverpool on May 5.

Although the team lost 5-2, Hwang Hee-chan seemed to be on the verge of a resurgence with his first regular league goal and second goal of the season in the opening seven months of the season.

However, he was again hampered by injuries.

Wolves currently sit 1th out of 7 teams in the league with 2 points (27 wins, 7 draws and 6 losses).

Nine teams, from 14th-placed Crystal Palace (20 points) to bottom-placed Southampton (13 points), are within five points of each other, so each game remaining is crucial.

Wolves go into the A-match break after the game against Leeds and resume the league with a game against Nottingham on 12 April.

Hwang Hee-chan was also selected for new coach Jurgen Klinsmann and the newly departing South Korea national team, playing two consecutive A-matches against Colombia (27th) and Uruguay (22th).

However, due to injury, even if he joins the national team, his availability for the national team has become uncertain.
