Manchester City extend Argentine Alvarez's contract until 2028

Manchester City have extended the contract of young Argentine striker Julián Álvarez until 2028 after a brilliant first season for the world champions with the reigning Premier League champions.
Despite being in the shadow of Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, the 23-year-old Argentine has scored 10 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions during his first English season.
Alvarez played a very influential role at the end of last year in leading Argentina to their first world title since 1986, scoring four goals in the Qatari World Cup, including two in the semi-final against Croatia.
British media reported that City raised the wages of the former River Plate player in recognition of his talent in order to extend the contract he previously signed by an additional year.
City quoted the Argentine as saying in a statement: "It's a moment of great pride for me and my family. For a club like City to trust me in that way, that's fantastic."
"I'm very satisfied with my first season here but I still have a lot to go." I know I can improve and City give me everything I need to achieve my potential."
