Canadian trainer Roger Atfield stressed that «always participating in the Dubai World Cup carries excitement and fun for him throughout the horse racing season around the world», pointing out that he seeks to be crowned the title of «Dubai Turf» through the horse «Shirls Spit».

Atfield said in a press statement to the Dubai Equestrian Club that "the Dubai World Cup is one of the most enjoyable events of the season, and it is one of the competitions that I wait for every season because of the exciting atmosphere that characterizes it." Atfield confirmed the readiness of «Shirls Spit» to compete for the coronation of the seventh round «Dubai Turf» with a total prize pool of five million dollars.

"I'm focused on making the horse happy to help him finish first and win the title, and with a quick overview of the preparations I see that things are going well," he explained.

He added: "He came from a rather difficult trip from Japan, after he participated there and I was a little worried, as he was exhausted and did not look fit and was not well, but luckily days after arriving in Dubai it changed, and his condition improved for the better, which made me feel happy and optimistic."

The 83-year-old trainer pointed out that the travel atmosphere affects the horse negatively, saying: "He had a difficult time traveling, which contributed to his feeling tired and exhausted, but now he looks fine."

"The horse is fit enough and will have a little bit of quick work before the race, other than that I see that he enjoys the atmosphere here himself and is ready to compete." On the difficulty of the race, he said: "The competition will be very strong with a selection of the best horses in the world, but I think it is really the best, so the horse must be fully prepared and helped by the conditions of the race."

The Canadian coach concluded his remarks by saying: "The main thing for me is to make him happy and healthy, especially since everyone is at their best, and I know 'Shirls Spit' well enough to compete strongly for the title."
