Athletes and technical analysts said: "They want to see the first national football team in a different and distinct way, unlike the modest level it showed in the last participation in the (Gulf 25) Cup." They stressed in an interview with "Emirates Today" that there are five technical goals that the coach of the national team, Argentine Arruabarrena, seeks to achieve during the upcoming gathering of the team in Abu Dhabi in the «FIFA Days» from 19 to 28 current.

During the camp, the national team will play two friendly matches against Tajikistan and Thailand on 25 and 28 March, respectively, at Al Nahyan Stadium in Al Wahda Club. This gathering comes as part of the team's preparations for the upcoming events, foremost of which is the "Asian Cup". The athletes set the technical goals in benefiting from the «FIFA Days» and the coach's meeting with the players, playing two friendly matches, checking on the technical and health condition of the players after a long break from gatherings, addressing the mistakes that accompanied participation in the last Gulf Cup, and caused him to exit the tournament early, and work to create more harmony between the players, and try new ideas and apply them with them during the matches of Tajikistan and Thailand. They said that «the sports street wants during the coming period to see a team different from the one they saw in the last Arabian Gulf Cup, during which it disappointed». It is noteworthy that Arruabarrena called up 25 players to the gathering, and the list witnessed the return of Al Jazira striker Ali Mabkhout, and Al Ain player Bandar Al Ahbabi.

Opportunity for correction

Former international and technical analyst, Abdul Rahman Mohammed, said that the upcoming camp is an opportunity for the technical staff to correct things, and to identify the technical errors that accompanied participation in the Gulf Cup in Iraq, and work to correct them through the friendlies of Tajikistan and Thailand. He added: «The coach sought through this gathering to prevent the players from staying away from the team's gatherings for a long time». He pointed out that it would be a good thing if new items were selected and watched during friendly matches.

The sports director of Al-Bataeh Club and technical lecturer of the Asian and International Football Federations, Abdullah Hassan, said that «during the calendar of the sports season there are specific days by the International Federation, which is linked to the program of the teams committee», considering that the preparation of teams and the arrangement of these days is up to the concerned federation, and all teams are interested in benefiting from these days.

He pointed out that «the upcoming gathering is the first after the last participation in the Arabian Gulf Cup, so the objectives of the camp, which comes after the postponement of the 2023 Asian Cup, are that the coach wants to check on the players, and stand on the technical condition of them, in addition to that he also seeks to give the players new ideas and try them, through such gatherings, in addition to giving the players more friendly experiences to determine their levels».

Positive change

Khaled Obaid, former football team manager at Al-Nasr Club and technical analyst, said that "the sports street wants to feel that there is a positive change in the team even in terms of the issue of selecting players, and it also wants to see a different team from the one it saw in a period during the last Gulf Cup in Iraq." He stressed the importance of working to correct the mistakes that accompanied the team's march in the past period, whether in the «Gulf 25» or before, considering that each station of the team is a lesson that must be benefited from.

He added: «We must work to stop the repetition of previous mistakes, especially at the technical level». He pointed out that the team's march witnessed during the last period positives and negatives.
