13 players to represent Abu Dhabi Weightlifting Club in the Emirates Cup

Abu Dhabi Weightlifting Club will begin its first appearance in official competitions by participating in the first Emirates Cup organized by the Federation of the game next Saturday and Sunday, at the hall of Al Ittihad Private School in Dubai, during which 13 players will start their journey with the club through this tournament, after they were selected through the open tournament organized by the club last February in cooperation with the Beek Fitness Club, and included 44 players.

The players who joined the club are: Ahmed Rashid 73 kg, Munther Al Jassmi 73 kg, Brandon Graham 89 kg, Shams El Din Abdel Rahman 89 kg, Ezzedine Al Jaafar 102 kg, Nico Bezoidenhout 102 kg, Moayad Al Najjar 102 kg, Mohamed Fathy 102 kg, and women: Paula Garcia 71 kg, Maryam Sultan Ali 71 kg, Asma Ahmed 71 kg, Angela Hill 81 kg, Nashiba Nakayza 81 kg.

The players underwent intensive training under the supervision of Avinash Bando, the club's technical director, distributed between Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, in preparation for the tournament, through which the club plans to achieve a strong start in the local activity, especially that the group chosen by the club to defend its colors includes a group of distinguished lifters, who were selected according to technical criteria that take into account the special abilities of each of them, in different weights, and their ability to rise and develop for the better from day to day, especially in light of the availability of the best equipment and advanced training methods.

For his part, Khalifa Al Zaabi, Director of Support Services at the club, said: "The tournament is a good start for the team, which was chosen by the coach technically and thoughtfully, and we have great confidence that this group represents a strong nucleus of the club, and can achieve great successes in the coming period, starting with this tournament, which has been well prepared, during the past few weeks under the supervision of the coach."

He added: "The tournament also represents a good occasion, especially as it is our first official participation after the establishment of the club, and it is important that the attendance in it is strong commensurate with what was done in the past period of organizing a tournament for the club through which the current players were selected, or the high level of training, and we thank the Weightlifting Federation for organizing the Emirates Cup, which in turn is the first tournament."
