The FIFA Council, during its session held yesterday in the Rwandan capital, Kigali, on the sidelines of the 73rd Congress meeting scheduled to be held today, approved the date of the Beach Soccer World Cup - UAE 2023, from 16 to 26 November next in Dubai.

The International Federation of Football (FIFA) announced earlier that the UAE's bid won the hosting of this world championship, after outperforming other files, as this hosting is the second for the UAE, after the 2009 edition held in Dubai, which saw Brazil crowned the championship title at the expense of Switzerland.

The Board of Directors of the UAE Football Association attaches great importance to this hosting, by forming work teams and holding periodic meetings with various supporting bodies and institutions in order to properly prepare for this tournament, which will witness the participation of elite international teams, and will enjoy a large public follow-up and media coverage.

On the other hand, the national team begins its campaign in the 2023 Asian Cup, facing Uzbekistan at the Jomtim Arena, while Iran will meet Malaysia, in the first round of Group B. The national team has completed its preparations to participate in the tournament hosted by the Thai city of Batia from 16 to 26 current, with the participation of 16 teams.

Ali Hamad, a member of the Board of Directors of the Football Association and Chairman of the Beach Soccer Committee, said in a press statement: "We have great confidence in all players, and their ability to achieve a positive result in the opening match, which will represent a great moral incentive for our journey in the tournament."

He added: "We aspire to achieve a new sporting achievement for UAE beach soccer during this participation, and we are sure that we can achieve this with the fighting spirit of the players, which is a key feature of this team."

It is noteworthy that the national team has previously participated eight times in the continental championship, and succeeded in winning the title twice in 2007 and 2008, and runner-up twice in 2017 and 2018.
