King Mohammed VI of Morocco officially announced his country's bid to host the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal.

Minister of National Education, Primary Education and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, read a message from King Mohammed VI, during a ceremony honoring him with the Confederation of African Football Award for "Sporting Excellence" for the year 2022, in the Rwandan capital, Kigali, in which he confirmed that Morocco had officially submitted its candidacy to host the tournament, along with Spain and Portugal.

The King of Morocco's message, conveyed by Benmoussa, said, "This joint offer will bear the title of linking Africa, Europe and the Mediterranean countries."

Last week, the Spanish newspaper "AS" confirmed the desire of Spain and Portugal to include Morocco in the joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup, instead of Ukraine.

The newspaper pointed out that the decision to exclude Ukraine from the joint file came against the background of the alleged corruption case involving the President of the Ukrainian Federation, Andriy Pavelko, who is accused of fraud and money laundering.
