The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) announced today, Monday, the reinstatement of its highest-paid presenter, Gary Lineker, to perform his duties, which is likely to put an end to a fierce dispute between the two parties that had come close to turning into a rebellion in the authority.

The BBC was forced to cancel most of its sports coverage on Saturday and Sunday, after broadcasters and analysts refused to work in solidarity with Lineker, who criticized the government's immigration policy in Britain.

The BBC's decision to stop Lineker came under criticism from workers and the opposition, claiming that the body, known for its political neutrality, came under government pressure, before Prime Minister Rishi Sunak intervened and said he hoped the crisis would be resolved as soon as possible.

Lineker thanked everyone for their support after announcing his return.

After a surreal few days, I'm delighted that we have navigated a way through this.

I want to thank you all for the incredible support, particularly my colleagues at BBC Sport, for the remarkable show of solidarity.

Football is a team game but their backing was overwhelming.

Lineker wrote on Twitter: "I have been presenting sports programs on the BBC for almost 3 decades, and I am very proud to work with the best and fairest station in the world."

Speaking of immigrants, he added, "My final perception... however difficult these past few days have been, is simply nothing compared to having to flee your home due to persecution or war and looking for a faraway place to go. It is gratifying to see the sympathy from so many of you for their plight."

There is no huge influx.

We take far fewer refugees than other major European countries.

This is just an immeasurably cruel policy directed at the most vulnerable people in language that is not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the 30s, and I'm out of order?

The BBC decided to suspend Lineker for violating neutrality regulations after he compared the style of British Home Secretary Soyla Braverman to the language spoken in Germany in the 1930s.

The former England striker, Lineker, previously hosted refugees in his home, and is now known for presenting one of the most famous sports programs, as he began presenting the “Match of the Day” program to analyze and show clips from the matches, in 1999.

Tim Davie, director general of the BBC, who took office in 2020, said in a statement today, Monday, that Lineker is an important part of the BBC.

"I look forward to him providing our coverage early next week," he added.

Davey confirmed that Lineker agreed to abide by the current regulations until a review of the regulations for dealing with social media is completed.

Lineker showed his support for Davey today and said he had the "near impossible task of keeping everyone happy, especially in the neutral part".

Lineker, who played for Leicester, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona, is the highest paid BBC, earning more than 1.3 million pounds in the 2021-2022 season.
