A return to blue for Paul Pogba? The question may not arise, as Didier Deschamps will announce on Thursday his list for the first qualifying matches of Euro 2024 against the Netherlands and Ireland, on March 24 and 27. The midfielder, whose return to the group of Juventus Turin was expected Sunday night for the reception of Sampdoria Genoa, is finally forfeited.

"Paul Pogba is not among those summoned, because of a muscular problem felt during training this morning [Sunday]," Juventus announced on its website unveiling the list of 21 players selected for this match of the 26th matchday of Serie A.

After the dismissal of the French international for the 8th leg of the Europa League final against Freiburg (1-0), Thursday, a disciplinary measure due to a delay of the player at the beginning of the gathering, coach Massimiliano Allegri had indicated Saturday that the player was now "available".

Two appearances this season with Juve

This physical glitch is a new setback for Paul Pogba (30 years old Wednesday) who is just starting his season after his right knee injury last summer, which required an operation in early September. To date, he has only been able to make two late appearances against Torino (4-2) on February 28 and AS Roma (0-1) on March 5.

In addition to Pogba, Juve will be without other key players on Sunday night: Angel Di Maria (thigh), Federico Chiesa (knee), Alex Sandro (thigh) and Moise Kean, suspended for two games after his exclusion in Rome.
