Iraq defeats Iran and ascends to the Youth World Cup
Iraq qualified for the semi-finals of the AFC U-20 Asian Cup in Uzbekistan, after defeating Iran 1-<> today in the opening quarter-finals.
The Iraqi national team qualified for the 2023 Youth World Cup in Indonesia, where it finished among the top four in the Asian Championship.
The goalless draw between the two teams lasted for 90 minutes, then Ali Jassim snatched the winning goal for Iraq in the first minute of stoppage time. The Iraqi team will meet in the Golden Square, the winner of the quarter-final match scheduled between Japan and Jordan on Sunday.
The quarter-finals continue today with the meeting of the Uzbekistan national team with its Australian counterpart, and tomorrow, Sunday, the meeting of the South Korean team with its Chinese counterpart.
