Erik Karlsson has had a strong season and leads defensemen in scoring in the NHL.
In the match against St.
Louis Blues, the Swede scored his 20th goal of the season when he made it 1-0 midway through the first period, set up by Alexander Barabanov.
It was Karlsson's 83rd point of the season – a new record for the Swede.
In total, there have been 20 goals and 63 assists in 66 games.
Previously, the 32-year-old had scored 82 points for the Ottawa Senatos in the 2015/16 season as his best.
The feat also meant that Karlsson became the third defender in San Jose Sharks history to score 20 goals in a season.
However, it was not enough for San Jose, who lost 2–4 after conceding two goals in the final period.
