In the classic tournament Indian Wells, which is played in California, Rebecca Peterson advanced from the first round.

But for the other Swedish hope, Mikael Ymer, things went worse as he lost in two straight sets against Rinky Hijikata from Australia.

After losing 4–6 in the first set, the Swede, who is ranked 57th in the world, took the lead 5–2 in the second.

But the Australian came back, turned around and won the second set 7–5.

Thus, Ymer went out of the first round against Hijikata, who is ranked 130 in the world.

Scream by Dalma Galfi

Dalma Galfi caused a sensation when she defeated the home jump Danielle Collins.

Galfi failed to qualify for Indian Wells but got a second chance when Tamara Korpatsch withdrew.

Then the Hungarian, ranked 80, won 6–4, 6–4 against the former grand slam finalist in the first round.

Collins was ranked seventh last summer when she reached the final of the Australian Open but is now ranked 31st in the world.

In the next round, tougher opposition awaits Galfi, as she faces world number five Caroline Garcia from France.
