Börje Salming is one of Sweden's greatest ice hockey players of all time.

After, among other things, playing 16 seasons in the Canadian NHL team Toronto Maple Leafs and being the first Swede to be voted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, he has also made a big name for himself internationally.

His hockey career began in his hometown of Kiruna, and as a child he learned to help on the family farm in the village of Salmi, Čoalbmi.

He tells this in an interview conducted in 2020 which is now published in the documentary Salming - the Sami from Salmi.

- Here you learned that you have to work, you have to help, he says in the documentary.

- The fact that it has gone so well in Canada I think comes from here, the rugged style.

See Salming - the Sami from Salmi on 9/3 at 7 pm on SVT2 or whenever you want on SVT Play.
