An Italian report revealed exciting developments in the case of deducting 15 points from Juventus in the Italian League for the current season.

On Friday, January 20, an Italian court decided to deduct 15 points from the “old lady” balance for the current season 2022-2023, as part of investigations into transfer deals between 2018 and 2021.

Juventus' hopes of escaping this penalty were revived, due to a "procedural error," according to the Italian newspaper, "La Gazzetta dello Sport."

And the Italian newspaper confirmed that the Sports Court finally agreed to inform the Juventus defense lawyer team of the correspondence between the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Italian Confederation’s Financial Supervision Authority (Covisoc), and ruled that they hand over the documents within a maximum of a week.

Juventus lawyers will work to find an error in the dates in which the investigations into those deals took place, given that the procedure that was officially opened on October 22, 2022, should not have been based on a report submitted to the prosecution in April 2021.

And "La Gazzetta dello Sport" indicated that if this was proven, the prosecution violated what is legally known as "procedural time", and therefore the ruling on deducting points becomes null and void by law.

This does not mean that Juventus is innocent of the charges against him, but he may escape this punishment only due to a possible administrative and professional error.

Juventus currently ranks seventh in the Italian League standings table, with 35 points, and is 12 points away from the qualifying positions for the Champions League for the 2023-2024 season.

But the situation will be completely different if the "old lady" team succeeds in recovering its deducted points, as the team's balance will rise to 50 points, placing it in second place equally with Inter Milan.

Certainly, this will revive the team's hopes of participating in the next edition of the Champions League, but the dream of winning the Italian league title will remain elusive, given that Napoli is flying alone and far ahead with 65 points.
