The United States Basketball Federation (USBA) has announced a new agreement with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) to host three men's games between the United States, Germany and Greece in Abu Dhabi, in the first match of the U.S. team in the UAE. As part of their final preparations for the 2023 FIBA Men's Basketball World Cup, the U.S. team will face Greece and Germany on August 18-20, while Germany and Greece will meet on August 19.

The CEO of the United States Basketball Federation, Jim Tully, said in a press statement: "We are delighted to organize the American Basketball Festival in Abu Dhabi, which is witnessing our team's first match in the UAE. The event serves as a platform to connect directly with fans from around the world, while our players and coaches enjoy exceptional experiences that will be remembered on and off the field."

Saleh Mohammed Al Jaziri, Director General of Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, said: "An unforgettable summer awaits everyone in Abu Dhabi and we are honoured to host the US Basketball Association for the first time in the UAE. Details of the matches, including squad lists, broadcast information and training camp dates, will be announced soon.

The World Cup will be held in Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines from August 25 to September 10, with 32 teams participating. The U.S. team plays its matches in the Philippine capital Manila. The draw for World Cup will be held on April 29 in Manila.
