The meeting with the SOK was also attended by Eva-Lena Frick who is a board member of the ski association, Ulrika Back who is the campaign manager for the ski WC in Falun 2027 and Olle Danielsson who is the World Cup Manager in Åre.

- It was an open meeting.

Positive in the sense that you are open to different solutions.

We have great experience in organizing competitions in the WC or World Cup.

So we feel very comfortable with being able to manage an Olympics, says association director Ola Strömberg.

Is the skiing association behind an Olympic application?

- From a purely organizational point of view, we would be able to do it, of course, and there are many positive parts of an Olympics.

But there is still a long way to go until you get there.

An initial deadline: mid-June

From the SOK's side, acting vice-chairman Hans von Uthmann, who leads the feasibility study, was present at today's meeting.

- We meet all confederations within the Olympic winter sports.

These are unconditional discussions where we share their knowledge and experiences, he says.

Is there a deadline for when the preliminary study must be completed?

- We have said that the preliminary study must be presented before the first of July.

After all, all Swedes know that the weekend before the first of July is usually quite busy (midsummer, editor's note), so we're actually talking mid-June.

Then we will make a decision whether to proceed in phase two.

And what does phase two mean?

- Then you go deeper into questions and details that we need to solve.

The IOC has a new process today where there are three steps.

Whether in phase one or two, there is some commitment, either from their side or ours.

But if you then enter the third final phase, then you have come further.

But we are not there at all yet, says Hans von Uthmann.
