On Sunday, the ladies will run a five-mile race in the World Cup for the first time ever.

It was on Monday that Linn Sömskar was asked about riding it.

- Great fun.

After all, I have a SM gold from this year, so I have been in contact with them a little before as well.

They have drawn attention to it, so it feels good to have this opportunity, she says.

"Not a given at all"

But to say yes was actually not obvious for Sömskar, who mainly bets on the Ski Classics long-distance cup.

- It was not at all a given that I would accept.

I got the question on Monday and was quite tired after the Vasaloppet.

I needed to think a little and feel it out, she says and continues:

- I didn't have a very good grasp of what the World Cup schedule looked like now.

I had actually envisioned that I would get a weekend off from competing and study a little more.

But now it turned out like this instead and it will be great fun.

"Hope to recover in time"

Sömskar, who made his World Cup debut in 2010, does not enter the weekend with any particular ambitions.

- I don't set goals that way, but I will drive what I can and hope for a good day.

I hope I have time to recover well from the Vasaloppet, so it can go either way.
