Athletes warned of the increasing phenomenon of football players, specifically players from ADNOC Professional League clubs - without naming them - whether they are citizens or foreigners, as well as some of them smoking shisha in cafes, noting that the solution to this problem is in the hands of the clubs' administrations themselves, and among the solutions is to think about holding daily morning and evening training.

They told «Emirates Today»: «The behaviors outside the text such as staying up late and smoking are not included in the contracts concluded between players and clubs as they are private and personal matters for the player, but the contract includes the need to maintain the player on his personal fitness and food and also maintain his technical level and cooperation with the coach, management and fellow players», stressing that «there are clubs know their players who stay up late at night, but they turn a blind eye to that!».

Morning system

For his part, said the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the former Kalba Union Club Issa Al-Dhabahi: «The clubs in the professional league must adjust the issue of staying up some of their players until late hours of the night», considering that «the solution in this can be through the establishment of a morning training session in addition to evening training, and we in the Kalba Union Club applied this system when I was Chairman of the Board of Directors, after it was discovered that a foreign player in the team was staying up late at night, and the impact of That's in his technical level with the team, but he regained his level just by quitting the night and sleeping early."

European Leagues

In turn, the former Chairman of the Players Status and Transfer Committee, Dr. Salim Al Shamsi, confirmed that the stay up late at night for players in the UAE league has been increasing continuously in the recent period, pointing out that there are clubs that know their players who stay up late.

Al Shamsi pointed out that there is no clause in the players' contracts, whether in the Football Association or even at the international level, that addresses the personal matters of the player, as long as the player did not fail to attend exercises and carry out his duties on the field, considering that staying up late undoubtedly affects the player's giving on the field.

Al Shamsi added: «In my estimation, the establishment of a training session in the morning in addition to the evening, makes the player think about sleeping early so that he prepares to go to the stadium for morning training, and this makes him more energetic and active, and thus maintains his fitness».

"If some clubs, for example, hold their training at seven in the evening, what prevents the player from staying up late and sleeping late at night, although there are players who may not stay up late."

The former head of the Players' Status and Transfer Committee in the Football Association pointed out that the players in the major European leagues have reached the high physical fitness and technical level that they are distinguished by, through the keenness of the administrations of these clubs to hold two training sessions daily in the morning and evening so that they can maintain their players.

"I was visiting Europe, and I saw players coming down at ten o'clock in the morning and snow falling, but they perform their training session normally, so the failure in this regard is not from the players, but from some clubs because this player is a professional and the club has the right to be keen to maintain his fitness."

He concluded: «Although the professional league is currently past the half, there are players who cannot complete a full match with the same fitness with which the match began, as a result of staying up late and smoking when some players, so clubs should be keen to increase the doses of training sessions for players».

Salim Al Shamsi stressed that there are players - without naming them - who do not stay up late in cafes, but they stay up late at home, stressing at the same time that there are committed players who are keen to sleep early in order to maintain their technical levels and fitness as professional players.

Club Control

The media and broadcaster in the Dubai Sports channel, colleague Ahmed Jokka, said: «The problem lies in the lack of control of some clubs for their players in terms of the issue of staying up late and sleeping schedules», pointing out that «there is a system in Europe that monitors the movements of the player as he became a professional in the club and receives money for playing in the club».

"Unfortunately, some of its clubs bring foreign players worth millions of dirhams, and leave them the rope on the sunset, and there is no control over them," Ahmed Joka added.

Ahmed Joka stressed the importance of clubs knowing the player who watches or not, through his effort and giving on the field, wondering if there are inspection devices in these clubs that reveal the measurement of the player's tender or not?

He concluded: «Staying up late players is a negative phenomenon and can be transmitted from the foreign player to the citizen, and vice versa, as the foreign player can be affected by citizen players in such behavior, which is staying up late», pointing out that «some players go to cafes to stay up late and smoke hookah».

Off-text behaviour such as staying up late and smoking are not included in contracts between players and clubs.
