Starting clap
For this first round of the Formula 1 World Championship, all the ingredients are there to attend a great race.
Surprising in free practice on Saturday, Fernando Alonso set the fastest time in FP2 on Friday and FP3 on Saturday lunchtime. He will be behind the Red Bulls and Ferraris, ambushed on the starting grid.
The Mercedes of Russell and Hamilton will be behind his AMR23. Stroll, injured in his right wrist, will be 8th. Hülkenberg, who is making his return to F1, showed an interesting pace at the wheel of his Haas, climbing into Q3 to clinch 10th place on the grid.
As far as the French are concerned, it's not really joy for Pierre Gasly (Alpine), who came out in Q1. He will start 20th while Esteban Ocon managed to slide into Q3. He will start 9th.
The lights are green, the season can begin, and it's not to displease us!
