Michaela Meijer was involved in a serious car accident in 2021 on her way home from a competition and has since had difficulty finding her way back to the same heights as before the accident.

Last year she was kicked out of the WC, and is at the EC to find her feeling and timing again after a difficult year.

In today's European Championship qualifiers, the 29-year-old managed to get through to the final after completing a season's best 4.55.

Meijer broke twice in 4.45 and cleared the height only in the last attempt.

She then took 4.55 straight away.

- We have said that the indoor season is about getting back on level after last year, which was so bad.

It feels like I'm a bit on the go.

The technique feels better than in a long time and I'm going to the EC final, which is nice.

Now I know how to do it.

We can only hope that it continues like this tomorrow.

The pole vault final starts at 17.05 tomorrow and will be broadcast on SVT.
