Mbappe is on the threshold of a historic achievement before Bayern Munich
Striker Kylian Mbappe stands at the threshold of a historic achievement with Paris Saint-Germain, the leader of the French football league, facing Nantes tomorrow in the 26th stage, before the expected site against Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League final. The Roosters striker with his two goals during the 3-0 win over Marseille in the last stage raised his tally to 200 goals in the shirt of the Qatari-owned capital club, to equal his former Uruguayan teammate Edinson Cavani as the top scorer in the club's history.
It is not excluded that Mbappe, who scored 4 goals in his last two games after returning from injury, will visit the net again against the "Canaries", the French Cup holder and fourteenth place in the league, at the "Parc des Princes" stadium to single out the record. Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier said after the win over Marseille, which knocked them out of the domestic cup: "Without a doubt Kylian will break the record. He's the top scorer in the world at the moment, there's no doubt about that."
"He's very fast and does anything fast. He always appears in big games, which is something that the top players are good at".
Mbappe has needed just 246 games and 5 and a half years to reach the 200-goal mark for PSG since he signed from Monaco in August 2017. Cavani, in contrast, needed 298 games between 2013 and 2020 to reach that threshold. Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, one of the top stars of the Qatar monarchy, previously held the record with 156 goals in his 4 years in Paris until 2016.
