Carl Bengtström took a close position on the second lap, an effort that held all the way to the finish.

His winning time of 45.77 was a 38 hundredths off the season best.

Bengström's personal record, also a Swedish record, is 45.33 from the Indoor WC in Budapest 2022 where he won bronze.

The final of 400 meters will be decided at 18:20 on Saturday evening.
