Al Wasl snatched a valuable victory from its host Al Dhafra Stadium with two clean goals today, in the 18th round of the ADNOC Professional Football League. With this result, Al Wasl regained second place in the standings, after raising its score to 38 points, while on the other hand, the position of the hosts worsened further, as Al Dhafra points froze at 7 in the penultimate place.

The "yellow" owes its victory to its Moroccan defender Sofiane Bouftini, who scored the goal in the 15th minute, and the team later needed the efforts of all players in order to maintain its lead with the result, especially with the dangerous attacks launched by the hosts, before Al Wasl succeeded in adding the goal of reassurance in the 89th minute by Argentine Shanklay.

Al Wasl confirmed with its victory that it is on the right path and its ability to play matches under pressure by returning to second place and tightening the noose again on Shabab Al-Ahli, the leader by one point, and that the meeting was a "dress rehearsal" before facing Bani Yas next Tuesday in the quarter-finals of the cup.
