Linus Ullmark has created an extraordinary moment in the NHL. The goaltender of the Boston Bruins scored a goal on Saturday (local time) in the game against the Vancouver Canucks – as only the 13th goaltender in the history of the North American Ice Hockey League. Most recently, the Finn Pekka Rinne succeeded in January 2020.

At the end of the final third, the Bruins took a 2-1 lead, the Canucks took their goaltender out of the game and a sixth outfield player on the ice. When Ullmark received the puck at his own goal, he shot the disc all over the field forward and scored 48 seconds before the end of the game for 3:1 (2:0, 0:0, 1:1) final score into the empty goal.

Oilers are up 0-4

"Three opponents jumped towards me, I didn't even notice where the puck was," Ullmark said of his goal. "The goalkeepers who have scored in this league are all great. I have to digest it all first." The Bruins have won their past six games and remain by far the best team in the NHL with 95 points.

Meanwhile, the German ice hockey star Leon Draisaitl and his Edmonton Oilers could not crown a spectacular fightback. At the Columbus Blue Jackets, the bottom of the Eastern Conference table, the Oilers made up a 0:4 deficit within only eight minutes, but lost the goal spectacle in the end with 5:6. The American Jack Roslovic destroyed the comeback hopes of the Oilers with his two goals in the last period (50th, 55th). For the Blue Jackets, it was only the 15th victory in the 59th game.

In a wild second third, the hosts increased from 1-0 to 4-0 within six minutes before the Oilers equalized the game with goals from Warren Foegele (27th), Draisaitl (30th) and two9 goals from his congenial striker partner Connor McDavid (33rd, 35th). The goal of Zach Hyman shortly before the end came too late (58.).

In the scorer standings, the once again outstanding McDavid, who prepared two more goals in addition to his own goals, is in first place with 113 points ahead of Draisaitl (88) in second place. For the Oilers, it is an unexpected setback in the fight for a good starting position for the playoffs.

National player Moritz Seider also conceded a defeat. The defenseman lost with the Detroit Red Wings to the Tampa Bay Lightning with 0:3. Things went better for Tim Stuetzle and the Ottawa Senators. The forward won with the Sens 5:2 at record champion Montreal Canadiens. The native of Viersen remained without a scorer point. Nico Sturm contributed two assists in the San Jose Sharks' 3–4 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.
