Perrine Laffont back at the top! The Frenchwoman, who had been left on a big disappointment during the last Olympics, became world champion of moguls skiing in singles, Saturday afternoon in Bakuriani (Georgia), thus winning her fourth world title after 2017 and 2019 in parallel moguls, and 2021 in single moguls.

"Pressure"

On Saturday in the final, Perrine Laffont, Olympic champion in 2018 in Pyeonchang (South Korea), flew over the competition, with a passage to 87.40 points, nearly four points ahead of the American Jealin Kauf (83.56), Olympic vice-champion 2022, and the Austrian Avital Carroll (80.19).

"It was such a tough day, because you know, you feel the pressure. It was long, but I did it. Now the pressure I know how to handle it. I just have to ski, that's all," commented Perrine Laffont. The wait in the finish area lasted a few seconds, before her note appeared and she let her joy burst.

"I can't believe it, it was so bad at the beginning of the season. How many times have I told myself that I was going to stop because I can no longer do it"

A year after the disillusionment of the Olympics, where she had only taken fourth place, the native of Lavelanet confirms that she is indeed back to the highest. First after qualifying, she also achieved the best score in the first round of the super final. Jakara Anthony completely missed the first run of the final, taking the 17th and penultimate place.

The Frenchwoman will have the opportunity to win a fifth world title on Sunday in parallel moguls, a discipline that will make its appearance on the Olympic program in 2026 in Milan-Cortina (Italy). Laffont thus climbed on the top step of a podium in four different editions of the world championships, surpassing the French legend of the discipline, Edgar Grospiron, in gold at the Worlds in 1991, 1993, and 1999.
