Dieter Hecking has stopped the crash of 1 FC Nuremberg for the time being on his return to the coaching bench. However, the hoped-for spirit of optimism for the fight to stay in the class did not ignite the flattering 1:0 (0:0) in the weak crisis duel against SV Sandhausen after a late foul penalty. The fouled striker Kwadwo Duah took the penalty kick himself on Saturday and let the Nuremberg team celebrate in the 86th minute.

Until then, the "club" showed in front of 26,260 spectators the well-known weaknesses in the game structure and in the creation of scoring chances. SV Sandhausen with its new coach Tomas Oral remains last in the table. The Nuremberg improved after the trembling game in snow and sleet at least first to twelfth place.

Hecking and his assistant Cristian Fiel had positioned their chairs far in front of the trainer's bench. The red occupied Hecking, the black took U23 coach Fiel. Orally, on the other hand, was constantly pacing along the sidelines. It was an unsightly game between two of the weakest offensives in the league.

Sporting director Hecking, after the release of Markus Weinzierl now also interim coach, made three changes in the starting eleven and even switched to a courageous 4-3-3, which did not pay off for a long time. Oral's six changes in the starting line-up proved to be smart moves, but didn't pay off in the end.

Kiel wins despite shock moment

Holstein Kiel has stopped SC Paderborn's winning streak. After four successes in a row, the team of coach Lukas Kwasniok played 1:1 (1:0) on Saturday and missed to climb at least temporarily on the relegation place. In front of 12,469 spectators, Maximilian Rohr gave the visitors the lead in the 31st minute. Kiel's Fabian Reese scored the equalizer with a penalty kick in the 66th minute.

The game started with a small moment of shock. Kiel's Finn Porath was undermined after a few seconds by his opponent Marcel Hoffmeier, landed rudely on his back and had to be treated. However, the attacker was able to continue the game.

The hosts had the better chances in the early stages. So Steven Skrzybski failed after a good pass from Reese to Paderborn keeper Jannik Huth (17.). But the guests scored the 1:0 with their first opportunity. Rohr escaped his opponent Patrick Erras and headed the ball in from close range.

Holstein was then the more dominant team. However, the North Germans did not create great scoring opportunities. Paderborn wanted to manage the narrow lead, but had to accept the equalizer. After a handball by Marco Schuster, referee Wolfgang Haslberger decided on a penalty, which Reese converted with a bit of luck.

The Betzenberg trembles

SpVgg Greuther Fürth has missed another step towards remaining in the Bundesliga in the 2nd Bundesliga, Kaiserslautern continues to keep all opportunities open for a possible promotion to the Bundesliga. The self-sacrificing fighting Fürth, who played after a dismissal for Simon Asta for over 60 minutes in outnumbered, lost on Saturday at 1 FC Kaiserslautern 1:3 (0:1). The lead through Terrence Boyd (22nd minute) was initially equalized by Kleeblatt captain Branimir Hrgota (62nd). Then Fürth ran out of steam, and Philipp Hercher (66th) and Kevin Kraus (69th) made the victory clear for Kaiserslautern.

In an entertaining game, both teams tried to disturb the opponent early. There were hardly any longer periods of possession, but unnecessary wrangling on the sidelines. The hosts initially had more of the game and deserved to take the lead through Boyd. The centre forward only had to push in the extended ball from two metres. Shortly afterwards, Asta (29.) brought down an opponent and saw his second yellow card.

Seemingly unimpressed by the dismissal, the Fürths dominated after the break and pressed for the equalizer. First the header of Marco Meyerhöfer (51.) only bounced against the post, later Hrgota scored from close range to 1:1. In the middle of the Fürth urge phase, a louder double strike brought the Betzenberg again to tremble. In the end, the Spielvereinigung lacked the strength for a further catch-up.
