Wada believes that the Russian prodigy should be banned for four years because she was caught in a doping control before the Beijing 2022 Olympics. However, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency chose to acquit Valieva on the grounds that she has committed no wrongdoing.
Valieva was allowed to compete in the Olympics and then helped lead the Russian team to gold.
Two months before the Beijing Games, she tested positive for an illegal substance.
