Egypt's Al Ahly complains about the Sudanese Crescent to the African Union

Al-Ahly Club of Egypt filed a complaint to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) against the Sudanese club Al-Hilal, on the grounds of what Al-Ahly was subjected to «of attacks and abuses that contradict all sports ethics and regulations governing the game of football, before, during and after the match that took place between the two teams last Saturday».

It is related to the match between the two teams, which was held in the second round of the group stage matches of the African Champions League, and ended with Al-Hilal's victory over Al-Ahli 1/<> yesterday, Saturday.

The text of Al Ahli's complaint, which was published on its official website today, said: "During the only training session of our team at the Blue Jewel Stadium last Friday, some Al Hilal fans stormed the stadium and threw fireworks at the players in the presence of a representative of CAF, who inspected the projectile objects and recorded the incident in his report."

He added: «Despite the decision of CAF to hold the same match without the presence of fans, due to the lack of safety conditions in this stadium and inform Al-Ahli Club of that, but Al-Hilal Club did not abide by this decision and allowed more than a thousand spectators of its fans to attend the match ... He also did not commit to providing safe and decent transportation for our team, as well as flooding the dressing room of Al-Ahli players with sewage after the match."

Al-Ahli continued in the complaint: «When the medical staff of Al-Hilal team went down to treat one of its players during the match, one of the members of this crew assaulted Al-Ahly player Mohamed Abdel Moneim with one of the medical tools. As a result, the referee of the match issued a red card to him, and he had to leave the stadium permanently, but he insisted on staying on the benches of Al-Hilal team until the end of the match and started insulting and insulting our goalkeeper Muhammad Al-Shennawi and tried to assault him while he was out after the end of the match.

He added: «A member of the administrative staff of Al-Hilal team beat our player Ali Lotfi and another of them assaulted our player Hamdi Fathi in a scene far from all sports ethics ... Al-Hilal Club did not provide safety insurance for our team, and its fans who were present in the stadium in violation of the decision of CAF overtook the head of the delegation of Al-Ahly Club and the staff of the Egyptian embassy in Sudan and assaulted our players while they were leaving the stadium and in the corridor leading to the dressing rooms.

He added: "What happened at Al Hilal Stadium last Saturday is a scenario that has been repeated many times before. Al-Ahly players were endangered in a previous match held between the two teams in Sudan on 1-2-2020, when Al-Hilal fans stormed the match stadium, and Al-Ahly Club refused to escalate at that time, in the interest of good relations between the clubs, and the sublime message of the game of football between peoples... It's repetitive and has crossed all limits... We await your urgent intervention, and the application of regulations and laws to ensure the success of CAF competitions."
