President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife, Kim Keon-hee, arrived at Stansted International Airport in London, England in the early morning of today (21st)
Korean time.

Viscount Hood, the chief physician of the British royal family, and other British dignitaries greeted President Yoon at the airport.

Then, on the first leg of his four-day, three-night state visit to the UK, he attended a dinner meeting with local compatriots.

[President Yoon Suk-yeol: We will build a new system of cooperation in the field of security, and we will also resume negotiations on the revision of the Korea-UK FTA to further solidify the foundation for cooperation in supply chains and trade.]

The president's office said Yoon was the first state guest invited by Britain's King Charles III since his coronation in May.

President Yoon will attend an official state welcome ceremony hosted by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace tonight (Korean time).

During this state visit, he will deliver a speech in English to the British Parliament outlining the direction and vision of cooperation between the two countries.

At the summit with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the two sides adopted the "Downing Street Consensus," which outlines the direction of future cooperation between the two countries, and agreed to upgrade the existing "comprehensive and creative partnership" to a "global strategic partnership."

[Kim Eun-hye/Head of Public Relations at the President's Office: It is a plan that comprehensively broadens the horizon of cooperation not only in security and defense, but also in economic fields such as securing supply chains and energy solidarity.]

The Downing Street Agreement contains a common stance on issues on the Korean Peninsula, including North Korea's nuclear program, and a common commitment to respond to global issues such as the Ukraine crisis.
