Liberia's National Electoral Commission (NEC) has officially declared candidate Joseph Boakai the winner of the presidential election against outgoing President George Weah, after votes were counted at all polling stations.

Davideta Brown Lansana, the committee's chairwoman, told AFP that Bouakai had won 50.64 percent of the vote against 49.36 percent for former President George Weah.

According to Lansana, Bouakai led Weah by only 20567,1 votes out of more than 6.<> million voters, while Weah had previously conceded victory to his opponent last Friday night in light of the semi-final results of the election held the same day.
