Abdullah bin Zayed: UAE is keen on constructive international partnerships and multilateral action

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met separately with Minister of Foreign Affairs Michael Martin of Ireland and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyar Saidov. and renewable energy and others.

The talks also touched on the climate file, and the importance of investing in this UN platform to mobilize international efforts to confront the repercussions of climate change, especially with the holding of the Climate Ambition Summit on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Sheikh Abdullah briefed the foreign ministers on the UAE's preparations to host the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in November and December at Expo City Dubai.

In this regard, His Highness stressed that the whole world looks at COP28 with unlimited ambition, great hope, desire and common will to achieve a tangible impact and a qualitative shift in the course of global climate action, noting that the UAE looks forward during hosting this prominent global event to consolidate a sustainable international cooperative approach, leading to a qualitative leap in the climate file at various levels.

Sheikh Abdullah also discussed with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ireland and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan a number of issues of common interest and developments at the regional and international levels.

His Highness pointed to the UAE's keenness to build constructive and positive international partnerships, based on inclusiveness and multilateral action, and lead to sustainable economic growth and comprehensive development in societies.

On the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, His Highness also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Argentine Republic, Santiago Andrés Cafeiro, where they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them to serve the common interests of the two countries.

Following the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Santiago Andrés Cavero signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of cybersecurity between the two countries.

In a related context, His Highness discussed during a meeting with US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf, a number of issues of common interest and exchanged views on them.

The meetings were attended by Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State Ahmed bin Ali Mohammed Al Sayegh, Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations, Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, and Deputy Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations, Mohammed Issa Bushahab.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his sincere wishes for fruitful discussions at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and success and success for all member states, in their endeavors for the good and progress of humanity, His Highness said in a recorded video speech yesterday: "Since the launch of the UAE's membership in the Security Council last year, we have sought to cooperate with our partners in the Council in facing all global challenges, and today my country looks forward to participating in the general discussions of the 78th session. to the United Nations General Assembly, and to continue our role as a reliable partner and mediator, supporting and supporting international efforts to build stable societies."

His Highness added: "The historic resolution adopted by the Security Council on tolerance, international peace and security, as part of a pioneering initiative undertaken by the UAE and the United Kingdom, is an important step towards positive change, as my country believes that achieving development is linked to spreading the values of tolerance and coexistence among peoples, and constantly seeking dialogue and supporting peaceful solutions."

"Addressing the repercussions of climate change has become an urgent priority for the world, and my country looks forward this year to hosting the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), and we have confidence and will to achieve concrete actions in the course of global climate action, with the cooperation and solidarity of all parties," His Highness said.
