The deputy in the Chamber with her son, it is the first time: the announcement in Montecitorio. "Long live Federico"

The deputy Gilda Sportiello takes her seat in a seat in the upper part of the Chamber and regularly participates in the final vote on the Dl Pa. She holds her son, born a few months ago, and breastfeeds him to the applause of colleagues. It is the first time, Montecitorio breaks the taboo. "Today we take an important step, especially because it represents a precedent and a message for the country and for all women", comments the protagonist shortly after. Sportiello, among other things, was the depositary of an agenda precisely "on the modalities of participation of single mothers in parliamentary work".

During the session, the vice-president of the Chamber Giorgio Mulé announced: "A way has finally been found to allow this Chamber to work in perfect and absolute silence, since from this session a small, very small Federico makes his debut in the Chamber". Best wishes for "a long and peaceful life to Federico" and applause.

Thus the Italian Parliament is approaching that of Strasbourg, where entry to new mothers with children has been allowed for some time. The photo of breastfeeding in the European hemicycle of Licia Ronzulli, currently leader of the Forza Italia group in the Senate, dates back to 2010.
