The Russian Foreign Ministry today summoned Belgian Ambassador to the Russian Foreign Ministry Mark Mikhelsen, and handed him a strongly worded protest over the use of Belgian-made weapons by Ukrainian groups in their attacks against Russia's Belgorod province.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement published today on its website that a strong protest was lodged regarding the revealed incidents of the use of Belgian-made weapons by sabotage groups that carried out terrorist attacks on the territory of the Belgorod region on May 22.

The Russian Foreign Ministry statement pointed out that it was stressed that the Russian side has repeatedly warned of the danger of supplying the Ukrainian armed forces with Western weapons and equipment, as well as their uncontrolled deployment and falling into the hands of terrorist groups.

The statement called on Brussels not to turn a blind eye to the growing evidence of the Kiev regime's support for terrorists targeting the civilian population and infrastructure of the Russian Federation.

Russia warned in a statement by the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation last Saturday of the arrival of Western weapons as well as Soviet weapons illegally re-exported from various irresponsible countries under the pretext of helping the Kiev regime to the black market and then to international terrorist and extremist groups.
