Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin announced that Russia sees no prospect of extending the agreement to export grain through the Black Sea.

Vershinin was quoted by Novosti news agency as saying: "We continue consultations with UN representatives on both parts of the agreement, while violations in its implementation are still present.

Russia has repeatedly said most Ukrainian grain goes to Western countries rather than needy countries in Africa.

The agreement, signed on July 22, 2022 by representatives of Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Nations, includes the export of Ukrainian grains, food and fertilizers through the Black Sea from three ports, including Odessa, and is part of a set of agreements designed for three years that provide for the lifting of the ban on Russian exports of food and fertilizers, the reconnection of the Russian Agricultural Bank to the global financial system SWIFT and the resumption of the supply of agricultural machinery, spare parts and services.

Moscow has repeatedly pointed to the difficulty of continuing the agreement in light of the non-implementation of the Russian part of the package of agreements.
