Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, Gennady Gatilov, said today that the decision of the European Office of the World Health Organization to close its office in Moscow is politicized.

Gatilov said in an interview with the channel "Russia 24": The European Organization Office has already taken this decision on the first of last May, to close the World Health Office in the Russian capital and transfer it to Copenhagen, stressing that it is a decision that represents an additional means of pressure on Russia, and politicization of health care, and this is contrary to the principle of health development for the benefit of all countries, and health should not be the focus of any political disputes.

Gatilov explained that the Moscow office has been working effectively over the past years, especially in the field of combating non-communicable diseases, and in cooperation with several countries, including the CIS countries, hoping to reconsider the decision in the near future.

Gatilov stressed that Russia will continue to cooperate closely with the European Office and the World Health Organization despite these measures.
