Russia warns of consequences of supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles

Russia has warned of the consequences of supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles.

The Kremlin said today that the supply of long-range missiles by France and Germany to Kiev will lead to another round of escalating tensions in the conflict.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a correspondent for the Rossiya-1 television channel: "We have already begun to see discussions about the delivery of missiles from France and Germany with a range of 500 kilometers or more."

"This is a completely different weapon," Peskov added, stressing that "it will lead to another round of escalating tensions."

Last month, Britain became the first country to supply Ukraine with long-range cruise missiles.

Ukraine has ordered Taurus cruise missiles with a range of 500 km from Germany.

French President Emmanuel Macron said his country would give Ukraine missiles with ranges that would allow it to carry out its counterattack.

Russia has repeatedly criticized Western countries for supplying Ukraine with weapons, warning that NATO member states have already become direct parties to the conflict.
