Russia's National Security Council has announced that it is working on measures to prevent the West from provoking economic crisis and social tensions in Russia.

A statement by the press office of the Russian National Security Council on the occasion of its 31st anniversary said: "Strengthening Russia's economic sovereignty is one of the main directions of the work of the Russian National Security Council."

The statement added that the work focuses on developing measures aimed at preventing attempts by Western countries to provoke an economic crisis in Russia, which carries with it the risk of social tensions in the country.

During a meeting with the permanent members of the council, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the need to make all necessary efforts to prevent Russia's adversaries from destabilizing the situation inside the country.
