• The T2 tram line that connected the courthouse to the airport disappears definitively this Monday in Toulouse. It will be replaced by the Airport line from 2026 to reach the airport in less than 7 minutes.
  • Work related to the creation of a new metro line continues in Toulouse and its agglomeration.
  • Users impacted by these changes are beginning to lose patience.

"And here we go again...", says Clémence. Line A, line T1, diverted buses... We blow. From this Monday, in Toulouse, the T2 tramway, which had 19,000 users per day, including 4,780 between Ancely and the airport will no longer circulate and this definitively because of the work related to the realization of the future metro station Line C "Blagnac". This future metro station line C will allow you to reach the airport in less than 7 minutes and will take the route of the T2 tram. The Airport line will be commissioned at the end of 2026 in connection with line T1.

Although these works and therefore the total shutdown of line T2 offer a new perspective in terms of transport in the Toulouse metropolis, users are still cautious about this new inconvenience. "This is really not the time: between the price of gasoline, the work in the city center, the traffic jams on the ring road..., blows Antoine, a resident of Blagnac who will have to go to work by car. The bus is not a solution for me. »

"Between strikes, works, etc. moving to Toulouse becomes hell. And in addition we lose a tram line! I used the T2 line every week to go to my sports classes, I would take the bus, "says Cléo, a law student. "They want soft mobility and they force us to take the bus or the car," says Samia who waits in vain for her tram... in the middle of a strike.

A lack for travelers

But the most impacted will be long-distance travelers because if the T1 line will serve most stops and will be reinforced, the T2 line allowed access to Toulouse-Blagnac airport... "In forty-five minutes when we left the courthouse, certainly, but it still saved us quite a bit. It avoided Uber or taxi in the evening and especially to pay for parking which is very expensive at the airport. It was one less organization when you took the tram to fly. Especially in summer," complains Christophe, who regularly flies to Paris for work. If his carbon footprint does not bother him, he can use the airport shuttle that leaves from the city center and takes 25 minutes to reach his destination.

If some lose patience, others resign themselves and are positive. "Concretely, it is not the most crowded line of France that disappears, jokes Florian, an artist from Toulouse. And then, if in a few years, it can make it possible to travel by metro rather than by car, it is all beneficial. »

On the other hand, Tisséo has not left users with nothing since two bus lines (30 and 31 created for the occasion) will make it possible to shuttle in the absence of the T2 tram on the same line and the passage of the T1 will be reinforced for some stops as well as the airport shuttle.
