Acting President of the Donetsk People's Republic Denis Pushilin confirmed that the United States supported mercenaries in Ukraine by all available means in order to weaken Russia, noting that Washington previously followed this policy in Syria as well.

Pushelin said in a statement to SANA's correspondent in Moscow today: "What is happening in Ukraine is no different from what happened in Syria, where the Western security services led by the United States have been active to bring terrorists and mercenaries and support them with money and weapons, to fight the legitimate government in Syria, and this is what is happening now against Russia in Ukraine."

"The attitude of the people in Donbass towards US practices in Ukraine is very negative, and the United States is a direct accomplice in the aggressive crimes committed by the armed formations of the Ukrainian regime in Donbass," Pushelin explained.

In turn, a member of the International Relations Committee representing the Donetsk People's Republic in the Federation Council of the Russian Parliament, Natalia Meknurova, said in a statement to SANA: "The terrorist war against Syria was supported by Western regimes led by the United States, and these are the mechanisms used by the American security services in fighting legitimate governments that reject their hegemony."

"We see the efforts and struggles of the Syrian people under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, which achieved victory over international terrorism," Miknurova added, noting that Syria's successes at the diplomatic level indicate that adhering to firm principled positions will inevitably lead to the victory of the right no matter how long it takes.

For his part, the war correspondent of the RIA Novosti agency, Alexander Kharchenko, who participated in covering the events of the terrorist war on Syria, and exposing its tools and financiers, said that much of what is happening in Ukraine is a picture of what happened in Syria in terms of financing, pumping weapons and mercenaries, spreading lies in media coverage, hiding facts, and so on.

Kharchenko added: "The West's goal of the war was to exhaust the Syrian state and accuse it of using chemical weapons, and make it a weak state unable to curb Israeli aggressions, and thus Russia is also intended to weaken it and paralyze its capabilities in defending its people in order to surrender to the expansion of NATO towards the east."

Kharchenko believed that the unity of the Syrian people in confronting terrorism, its victories and its presence in the Arab ranks must be emulated, to remove from its shoulders the weight of the Atlantic sanctions that hinder its development and prevent it from building its bright future.
