According to a press release, the publishing house Kiepenheuer & Witsch is ending its cooperation with the author Till Lindemann. It speaks of "shock" and an "irretrievably shattered" relationship of trust: "Our sympathy and respect goes to the women affected."

The singer of the band Rammstein and book author at KiWi is accused by several women of sexual acts to which they have not consented. The statement, signed by publisher Kerstin Gleba, goes on to say that they have "become aware of a porn video in which Till Lindemann celebrates sexual violence against women and in which the book 'In Silent Nights', published in 2013 by Kiepenheuer & Witsch, plays a role. We see this as a gross breach of trust and a reckless act towards the values we represent as a publisher."

This also includes artistic freedom: "We defend the freedom of art with full conviction. However, due to the humiliating actions of Till Lindemann in the aforementioned porn and the deliberate use of our book in a pornographic context, the separation between the 'lyrical ego' and the author/artist, which we defend so fiercely, is mocked by the author himself."

In view of earlier criticism of Lindemann's poems, some of which deal with sexual violence, Helge Malchow, now Editor at Large at KiWi, had emphasized the difference between lyrical ego and author on behalf of the publisher.
