The military has salvaged a float believed to be part of a launch vehicle from the drop site of a space launch vehicle fired by North Korea, and search and salvage operations are underway for the remaining debris.

The salvaged float is believed to be a cylindrical link between the first and second stages of the rocket.

The military will collect the remaining projectile debris and check its overall performance, whether foreign components are used, and the level of technology.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff determined that part of the so-called space launch vehicle launched by North Korea fell into the South Korea-China Provisional Measures Zone.

The Provisional Measures Zone is a waters set up in the West Sea that allows only Korean and Chinese fishing vessels to operate freely without notification.
