In honor of their pure souls, the Governorate of Damascus Countryside, in cooperation with the Directorate of Martyrs, Wounded and Missing Affairs in Syria today, honored more than a hundred families of martyrs during a ceremony held at the educational complex in the suburb of Qudsaya.

The celebration included dance paintings, songs and poetry passages that expressed the sublime meanings of martyrdom, presented by students from the Revolutionary Youth Union and students from the Vanguards of the Baath Organization.

A number of the wives and sons of the martyrs expressed in statements to SANA correspondent the importance and greatness of martyrdom, because the martyrs drew the path of victory and raised the flag of Syria high to live future generations.

Amal Khaled Jaber, the mother of two martyrs, confirmed that she is proud of the testimony of her two sons, because their blood went as a sacrifice for the homeland, while Linda Noureddine, the wife of a martyr, pointed out that any initiative provided to the families and children of the martyrs means a lot to them, and makes them feel the value of the great sacrifices made by the martyrs to keep Syria with its head held high.

Like Mohamed Diop, the mother of one of the martyrs, she pointed out that this honor is a beautiful gesture that expresses that the blood of the martyrs will not be wasted.

The children of the martyrs confirmed for their part that they will go the same path drawn by their fathers, said Nour, daughter of the martyr Bassam Haidar: "She is proud of the testimony of her father because the martyrs are the greatest people, defended the homeland and gave their lives as a sacrifice for him," and between Wajih son of the martyr Manhal Shureikh that he will follow the march of his father in defense and nation-building.

The Director of the Directorate of Martyrs, Wounded and Missing Major General Bassam Berri stressed that there is a close follow-up to the families of the martyrs to help them solve their problems, and provide all support to them, pointing out that the sacrifices they made for the sake of the homeland wrote the song of life, paved the way for future generations and raised the banner of truth high.

The director of the Martyrs Office in Damascus countryside, Engineer Ahmed Kanaan, explained in a statement to SANA that this honor is held annually, in cooperation with the Directorate of Martyrs, Wounded and Missing Affairs for families who are nominated by it and were not honored previously.

In a statement to reporters, the governor of Damascus countryside, Safwan Abu Saadi, pointed out the importance of being with the families of the martyrs to honor them, as the sacrifices made by the martyrs will not go to waste, but rather drew ways of victory for future generations to follow.
