A private hospital in Dubai has delivered medicines to the home of a Dubai Silicon Oasis patient by drone for the first time, marking a regional leader.

Fakeeh University Hospital (FAYKH), the smart healthcare hub in Dubai Silicon Oasis, part of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), became the first healthcare provider in the Middle East to use this technology to deliver medicines.

This step comes within the framework of enhancing Dubai's global competitiveness in the field of adopting advanced technology and its applications, and in line with the objectives of the Dubai Drone Transport Empowerment Program, launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, in 2021, with the aim of enhancing integration between the various key economic sectors in Dubai, employing the latest ideas, technologies and qualitative solutions, and providing advanced infrastructure that enables innovators and entities participating in the program to test new solutions in Dubai. The project was implemented in collaboration with the Dubai Future Foundation and the Dubai General Civil Aviation Authority, where medicines were successfully delivered within 10 kilometres to the home of a hospital patient in one of the residential communities in Dubai Silicon Oasis.
