"The word 'race' finally disappears from all the acts and documents of the P.A. An anti-scientific concept is eliminated, making a clean sweep of serious sentences about race, stocks, ethnicities. Thank you to all the groups who voted for our proposal. Today we say forcefully: never again!" This was written on Twitter by the deputy of the Pd-Idp, Arturo Scotto, commenting on the unanimous green light of the Constitutional Affairs and Labor committees of the Chamber of Deputies to the amendment of which he was the first signatory.

"We have signed and voted with conviction the amendment that will henceforth prevent the use of the term 'race' in all acts and documents of public administrations, which will be replaced with that of 'nationality'. Although it is no longer used for some time and is mentioned in the Constitution, it is a concept no longer in line with our times, which could appear discriminatory against someone. It therefore had to be overcome. Forza Italia and all the center-right parties voted for the proposal presented by the Democratic Party to the decree for the strengthening of public administration, a proposal that had already had the green light from the Government. It is the demonstration that on this, as on other issues concerning rights and therefore the very level of civilization of our country, there are no distinctions or divisions. The project of institutional reforms that Parliament will examine in the coming weeks could be an opportunity to definitively overcome the concept also in our Constitution". Thus the deputy Paolo Emilio Russo, leader of Forza Italia in the Constitutional Affairs Committee in the Chamber, commenting on the approval of an amendment to the decree for the strengthening of the administrative capacity of public administrations, under examination by the Commissions.
