Violent clashes in Khartoum ahead of truce week end

Residents in Khartoum said they heard violent and ongoing clashes on Monday in parts of Sudan's capital Khartoum, hours before the end of a truce deal that provided some calm in the six-week conflict but allowed little humanitarian aid to arrive.

Clashes have continued from Sunday until today in the south and west of Omdurman, one of the three adjacent cities that make up Khartoum state, and residents in southern Khartoum on the other bank of the Nile River said there were clashes late on Sunday.
